Top Attractions in Delhi


New Delhi is being a capital of India and it has a rich history. This city is scatters with fascinating forts, mosques and monuments left over from Mughal rulers that once occupied the city. The contrast between walking Old Delhi and well planned New Delhi is huge, and it's very interesting to spend free time in both places. If you need of some relaxation in the city, then there are many flourishing landscaped gardens are available in New Delhi.

Here I have mentioned the top attractions in capital city of India, New Delhi. The great thing is that many places of them are free of cost. 




India Gate:

India Gate is situated at the heart of New Delhi and it is a national monument of India. It was built in 1931. This famous monument is inspired by Arc de Triomphe, which is located in Paris, which in turn is inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus. Originally India Gate is known as the All India War Memorial and is popular landmark in New Delhi. 



Red Fort:

Red Fort is another popular monument in the city, it also known as Lal Quila. It was built in 1638, were designed to keep out invaders, now basically they keep out the confusion and noise of the city. Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor, after ruling from Agra for eleven years, who was decided to shift to Delhi and laid the foundation stone of the Red Fort in 1618.
The Red Fort has two main entrances gate, the Lahori Gate and Delhi Gate. The main entrance to the Red Fort through the Lahori Gate. 




Qutub Minar:

Qutub Minar is a 5 storied tower. Each tower of the popular Qutub Minar has unique designs. It is located in a Mehrauli in South Delhi. The construction of world famous towering Qutub Minar was started in 1192 by Qutub-ud-din Aibak. It is a fine example of the Indo-Islamic style of architecture. The balconies in Qutub tower are supported by exquisite stalactite designs. The conical tower has pointed and circular flutings on the first storey and star-shaped on the second and third stories.  




Lotus Temple:

Lotus Temple is popularly known as Baha’i Temple. This famous tourist attraction is one of the remarkable architectures of Bahai faith. It is situated at Kalkaji in New Delhi. The temple has looks like a lotus flower and is made of cement, marble, sand and dolomite. The Lotus Temple has no restrictions for its visitors and it is open to all religions people. The design of this temple is looks like a half opened Lotus flower with 27 “petals” made of marble. The architect of Lotus Temple, while designing the temple took into account the existent beauty of Lotus flower.




New Delhi has many more tourist attraction such as Rashtrapati Bhawan, Birla Mandir, Akshrdham temple, Old fort, Humayun’s Tomb, Chandani Chawk, Jama Masjid, Rajpath and many more…
