Shirdi, pilgrim site


Shirdi is a small village, which is located in Rahata Tahsil in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra state. Shirdi is near about 83 KM away from Ahmednagar accessible between Ahmednagar to Manmad State Highway No.10 and it is 15 KM from Kopargoan. Shirdi is very well known as home of popular guru Shirdi Sai Baba. Shirdi’s Sai Baba temple is including one of the richest temple organizations of India.

Shirdi, devotional place


Shirdi is a small village situated in Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra. This small village is approximately 100 km of distance from Nashik city. Nowadays, Shirdi village is a hustling pilgrimage center of India.

Shirdi was the home of Sai Baba, who was the great saint of the 20th century. Sai Baba was lived Shirdi more than 50 years of his life. He has made Shirdi a big shrine place for devotees. Two beautiful silver pillars are full decorative designs are in front of the Samadhi. Just behind the Samadhi, Sai Baba’s beautiful statue made of Italian marble which shows him with seated on a throne. This idol was made by late Balaji Vasant. 



Khandoba Mandir:

The Khandoba temple, which is located on the main road of Shirdi. Baba was welcomed here in front of this temple by Poojari Mhalsapati of this temple and saying "Aao Sai", when Sai Baba stepped in Shirdi. In this temple there are icons of Mhalsai, Khandoba and Banai.


Gurusthan:

Sai Baba first came to Shirdi in the form of a child ascetic (Bal Yogi). He was first seated under a Neem tree. This place was come to be known as Gurusthan. In September 1941, the renovation was made of Gurusthan. The present temple of Shirdi was built after this period. There is a small shrine place in Gurusthan. On an elevated platform of this shrine, there is a big portrait of Sai Baba is placed in Gurusthan. There is also a photos of twelve Jyotirlingas are kept in this temple.

Shrine Place Shirdi Temple

Sai Baba:

Long time ago, at the early eighteenth century a young bearded man, who is known as Sai Baba, with bright eyes took shelter in a mosque, in Shirdi Village in state of Maharashtra, India. Nobody knew from where this stranger had come who hardly spoke a word and stayed there. 



Sai Baba was strongly believed in equality of religion and he never had distinguished anyone on the basis of caste, community or religion. He always made it a point not to back empty handed those who had come to Sai Baba in their hour of need and grief. He performed miracles to reduce the suffering of poor people. On one occasion he restored the eyes of a blind elderly and on another occasion he was been lighted a lantern with water when there was no oil to burn it.

As all good things have to end ultimately "Sai Baba" also left his a body on his own will dated on 15th Oct. 1918, leaving his millions of believers and all was crying. His body was laid in the Samadhi Mandir, it is known as "Booty", which he had asked his pupil to built before his death.

He said that, this is the resting place of his Lord (the almighty), because this spot is called as Gurusthan. On this elevated platform worship the photo of Sri Sai Baba kept here at Gurusthan.
