Shirdi
is a small town of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra state, it is located on
the Ahmednagar- Manmad highway. Shirdi is situated approximately 307 km
northeast of Mumbai and 6 hr drive from Mumbai. The silent place of Shirdi
having population of around 15000. It has being earns the major part of its income
from tourists and devotees of Shirdi crosses sometimes maximum 30000 mark.
This
holy place is a home to a great saint Sai Baba who was lived here for
approximately eighty years before he was dying in 1918. It is mainly a religious
center. The town is very small and is of just 2 Sq km. It has a main street and
the road lane is full of narrow which is full covered with small shops, most of
shops has selling material that are offered at the Shirdi temple.
Samadhi Mandir
This
is the place where Shri Sai Baba went into his samadhi. The Shirdi temple has
built of stones whereas the samadhi is built up with white marbles and beautiful
ornamental decorations. Behind the samadhi there is statue Sai Baba which shows
him seated on a throne. The Shirdi temple has open for devotees from 5 AM till
10 in night. On special days such as Guru-Poornima, Ramnavami festivals and
Dussera the temple has open for overnight. A palkhi with Baba's photo is taken
out from the temple on every thursday which is worth a watch.
Gurusthan - Resting Place of
the God
Gurusthan
is a place where Shri Sai Baba was first seen under the Neem tree. Sai Baba called
this place himself a holy place. He said that, this is the resting place of his
Lord (the almighty), because this spot is called as Gurusthan. On this elevated
platform worship the photo of Sri Sai Baba kept here at Gurusthan.

Shirdi
town is a small place with limited number of accommodation to stay for tourist
but these all hotels are very near located in 10 minute walk away from the
temple. Hotels in Shirdi near temple offers good residential facility to its
tourist. They are operating throughout the year as the time and season to visit
to Shirdi is favorites one throughout the year.
