Connaught Place, Shopping place in New Delhi

Connaught place is an important part of capital city of India, New Delhi. Connaught Place is largest commercial, financial and business center from all major business centers in the city. It is commonly known as CP and it is very famous in this city. CP has being surrounding to occupy a place of proud and a number of top heritage structures among the city. The name of Connaught Place was given after the Duke of Connaught, the construction work of CP was started in the year 1929 and the works completed in 1933. The famous place Connaught Place was renamed as Rajiv Chowk, who was the late Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Nowadays, Connaught Place is one of the most vibrant business places in New Delhi. But there some projects works have been stable to certain problems, like dispute over traffic congestion, property rights, haphazard development, encroachments, unauthorized construction and others.

Cinemas in CP

The theater was made way into Indian cinema in the year 1931, and in our country there was boom in the decades of the 1930s and the 1940s. At that time there were four theaters came up in this area of Connaught Place such as Regal, Plaza, Rivoli, Odeon and a short-lived "Indian Talkie House" that was opened in 1938, these all have been making Connaught Place known as entertainment hub of New Delhi. The first theater of CP was Regal, which was opened in 1932 by Sir Sobha Singh. 

Plaza was came up in CP in the form of next theater in the year 1940, which was designed by Sir Rober Tor Russell. Odeon theater was built in 1945, second 70mm screen in Delhi after "Shiela Cinema" located in Paharganj. Rivoli theater is close to Regal and it was the smallest theater of the area. Plaza and Rivoli are now owned by multiplex giant PVR Cinemas as long as Odeon is a joint venture with Reliance Big Pictures.

Palika Bazaar

Palika Bazaar was established in the year 1978, it has a market and situated between the inner and outer circle of CP, New Delhi. The whole market, Palika Bazaar is fully air-conditioned and this is only underground market across the city, New Delhi. There are more than 400 shops crowd at one time under the lush green grassy square in Connaught Place. It is very famous market place in New Delhi, it has been selling a wide variety of different ranges including clothes, household appliances, electronic gadgets, study materials, footwear and many more.
